Ask for Larry Hooker he is wonderful. Call "EARLY" to reserve your incubator.
If requested he gives a talk to your class about the incubator, parts of an egg and the process of hatching chicks. He will drop the eggs off and also come back and get the chicks to give to 4H kids. He also has a limited number of incubators to rent.

Teacher Additions Ordering Chicks / Renting Incubators Larry Hooker at the Arapahoe County Extension Office.
He lives in Fort Collins and raises his own chickens. He has schools hatch the eggs for him and then when he picks the chicks up from the schools is gives them to kids who will use these for their 4H projects. He has a limited number of incubators (I think 10) and I know I put in my reservations for Spring 2009 in May of 2008 so I don’t know if he will have any incubators available. If schools have their own incubators then they can buy the fertilized eggs. He rents the incubator, broader, waterer and food for $25 and the fertilized eggs can be purchased for $20/dz. He also offers an “Adventure Guide” which is geared towards 4H but I found it to be really helpful, you receive the guide free if the school has him do a 20 minute presentation at the start of the unit and again at the end – it is $1.50/child. Schools can buy their own incubators. Simple units with automatic turners run under $100, a basic unit where you have to manually turn the eggs is about $50. Fancy incubators run over $350 but are great for classrooms use because they have large clear domes that kids can easily observe. Eggs can be ordered from Larry or a few other university programs sells them too. The nice thing about Larry is that he takes the chick home when they are about 7-10 days old.
